I feel that this sector in particular is risky to long term invest in. This if you consider where we are heading with the automobile industry and other industries where new innovations are on the door step.

I'm not touching ANY energy companies, their high dividend yields are NOT sustainable in the long term, thanks to the shift to Electric Vehicles, which is only likely to accelerate over the next decade thanks to S curve adoption of new technology. Automobiles are the bigger users of oil, cutting out half the demand for oil overtime will cause a TON of pain for energy companies in the future, and most likely a few bankruptcies.
